Cover annual, sick, family responsibility, maternity, parental, adoption and commissioning parental leave, each at or above the BCEA minimum; the leave cycle and forfeiture rules; medical certificate requirements and the two-day rule; unpaid leave; study leave; and the record kept.
The BCEA is a floor, not a menu. A policy granting less — a shorter sick-leave cycle, a forfeiture rule that defeats the statutory minimum — is void to that extent, and the organisation will be held to the Act while its staff have been told something else. Parental leave provisions have been the subject of litigation and legislative change; check the current position rather than copying last year’s policy.
